Biography

Tenured Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Tsinghua University, Chief Physician, and Dean of the School of Healthcare Management at Tsinghua University.

As a renowned clinical expert in neurology and a strategic scientist in healthcare management in China, he has long been dedicated to innovative research on diagnostic and treatment technologies for cerebrovascular diseases. He actively promotes the in-depth integration of medicine with artificial intelligence and information technology, and participates in the development of smart healthcare systems and the reform of modern hospital management.

As a pioneer and leader in the field of neurovascular intervention in China, he introduced the country’s first self-expanding stent technology for the treatment of supra-aortic artery stenosis and published the first case report on the implantation of a self-expanding carotid artery stent. In the field of cerebrovascular diseases, he innovatively proposed the concept of the "Endovascular Diagnosis and Treatment Stroke Unit," establishing a new model for integrated diagnosis and treatment that combines technologies such as angiography, thrombolysis, and stent implantation. He led the development of an intelligent stroke prevention and treatment network system and oversaw the creation of China’s first specialized AI large model for cerebrovascular diseases, pioneering the application of artificial intelligence technology in the full-process management of such conditions. These efforts have significantly improved the precision and efficiency of diagnosis and treatment, with related achievements receiving multiple national invention patents.

Leveraging his profound clinical experience and cutting-edge technological insights, he has expanded his research into modern hospital management and healthcare system reform. He has successfully translated clinical expertise into management innovations, leading the standardization of hospital management and promoting the demonstration and application of "digital-intelligent healthcare" in major public health initiatives such as stroke prevention and treatment.

As the principal scientist, he has led multiple national key research initiatives, including projects under the National Key R&D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published over 200 academic papers in SCI and core journals and edited several academic works. Under his leadership, his team has established an intelligent prevention and treatment network for cerebrovascular diseases covering a population of over 10 million, achieving a systematic transition from individualized precision diagnosis and treatment to regionalized and intelligent health management. This demonstrates his value as a strategic scientist who bridges clinical medicine, technological innovation, and scientific management to continuously drive transformative improvements in the healthcare system.
