Program Overview

Tsinghua University received approval in July 2022 to establish a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) professional degree program.

The core mission of the MHA program is to cultivate senior management professionals who are proficient in both cutting-edge healthcare management theories and the application of next-generation information technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to support the national drive to advance smart healthcare and digital health governance. Graduates of this program will possess the systems thinking and leadership skills needed to identify problems, develop strategic solutions, and drive positive change within complex healthcare systems. This expertise will enable them to lead healthcare organizations in making their governance, operation, and service delivery smarter and more precise.

By cultivating a new generation of digitally savvy healthcare administrators, Tsinghua University aims to spearhead the modernization of China’s healthcare administration and the adoption of smart technologies in the sector. This program provides crucial support for building a modern healthcare system that is high-quality, efficient, equitable, and accessible. Ultimately, it advances the goals of the Healthy China 2030 strategy, strengthens China's public health foundation, and supports a healthy population in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Curriculum

The MHA program integrates the latest domestic and international achievements at the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare administration. The curriculum draws on Tsinghua University's recent experience in developing “AI+X” interdisciplinary programs, including Smart Healthcare Systems Engineering and Health Data Science and AI, with the goal of fostering deep integration and synergistic development between management education and digital technologies. Adhering to an application-oriented approach, the curriculum design closely reflects the real-world development of smart hospitals, the operational mechanisms of smart healthcare systems, and effective pathways for introducing new medical technologies and products, with a focus on strengthening students’ ability to support the reform and digital governance of the healthcare sector.

Application Requirements:

1. Applicants must uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, be committed to serving socialist modernization, have strong moral character, and adhere strictly to all laws and regulations.

2. Applicants must meet one of the following academic and work experience criteria:

(1) Applicants holding a nationally recognized bachelor’s degree must have at least three years of work experience before the postgraduate registration date at Tsinghua University.

(2) Applicants holding a nationally recognized master’s or doctoral degree must have at least two years of work experience before the postgraduate registration date at Tsinghua University.

Note: Applicants presenting academic qualifications or degrees obtained overseas must have their credentials officially certified by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) of the Ministry of Education.

Participants:

1.This includes managers working in relevant entities such as large-scale smart hospitals, healthcare industry administrative authorities, medical insurance institutions, internet-based healthcare platforms, and medical and health technology enterprises, as well as individuals who aspire to engage in healthcare management-related work in the future.

2.In-service personnel with professional backgrounds in medicine, information science, data science, management, pharmacy, nursing, electronics and information engineering, law, health service management, etc., and who have certain practical experience.

Study Duration: As stipulated in the Regulations on Postgraduate Student Status Management of Tsinghua University.

Study Format: Part-time, contract-based training. Applicants must obtain formal approval from their employer before applying.

Class Schedule: Classes are held every two weeks on Friday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Class Location: Tsinghua University, Haidian District, Beijing.

Tuition: RMB 150,000 per person.

Certificates: A Master's Program Graduation Certificate and a Master of Healthcare Administration Professional Degree Certificate from Tsinghua University.
