2026 Admissions Policy of the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) Program of Tsinghua University

I. School of Healthcare Management, Tsinghua University

To support the Healthy China strategy and the reform of the country’s healthcare system, Tsinghua University has integrated resources from multiple disciplines, including medicine, management, information science, sociology, and law, to establish the School of Healthcare Management.

Positioning

The School of Healthcare Management has been established to high standards with a strong focus on internationalization. Its mission is to build an innovative, research-oriented, and practice-based platform for learning and research. It is dedicated to accelerating the modernization of China’s healthcare governance system and promoting the high-quality development of the country’s healthcare sector.

Talent Cultivation

The School of Healthcare Management focuses on addressing the urgent need for interdisciplinary management talent in China’s healthcare sector. It is developing a systematic and scientific training program that integrates advanced international concepts with Chinese practices. The goal is to cultivate high-quality professionals who are proficient in medical principles and possess outstanding management skills, thereby consistently providing top talent to the country’s healthcare sector.

Through its multidisciplinary research system, it aims to achieve breakthroughs at all levels, from micro-level service optimization to meso-level institutional design to macro-level policy and economic strategy, with the goal of promoting the deep integration of academic innovation and industry practice.

Collaboration with the Industry and Research Institutions

The School of Healthcare Management is committed to strengthening its collaboration with the industry and research institutions and enhancing its contributions to society. It plans to cooperate extensively with medical and research institutions, as well as the broader health industry, to facilitate the translation of research findings into practical applications and elevate management standards, thereby actively supporting the development of healthcare institutions and the wider health sector.

II. MHA Program

Tsinghua University’s MHA Program has been officially approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. In response to the Healthy China 2030 strategy, the program aims to cultivate high-quality, interdisciplinary healthcare management professionals for China’s healthcare system.

The curriculum is designed to help students master modern healthcare management theories and methods. By integrating next-generation information technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data, it aims to develop graduates into leaders with strong medical literacy, a leadership mindset, digital competence, and an international perspective. Graduates of this program will possess the systems thinking and leadership skills needed to identify problems, develop strategic solutions, and drive positive change within complex healthcare systems. This program will equip them to lead healthcare organizations in making their governance, operation, and service delivery smarter and more precise. It is designed to provide key talent to support the development of a high-quality and efficient national healthcare system.

III. Study Format

This program is offered on a part-time basis, with classes held on weekends.

1.Study Duration: As stipulated in the Regulations on Postgraduate Student Status Management of Tsinghua University.

2.Class Schedule: This program is offered on a part-time basis, with classes held on weekends.

3.Class Location: Main Campus of Tsinghua University, Haidian District, Beijing.

4.Tuition: RMB 150,000 per person.

5.Enrollment Quota: 20 students (The final quota is subject to the official enrollment plan published by Tsinghua University).

IV. Curriculum

Adhering to an application-oriented approach, the curriculum design closely reflects the real-world development of smart hospitals, the operational mechanisms of smart healthcare systems, and effective pathways for introducing new medical technologies and products, with a focus on strengthening students’ ability to support the reform and digital governance of the healthcare sector. The curriculum has been carefully designed to align with international standards and support local healthcare management practices, with special attention given to factors such as (i) talent requirements for emerging medical disciplines, (ii) performance evaluation metrics in public hospitals, and (iii) skills needed for the high-quality development of public hospitals.

Credit Requirements

To graduate, students need at least 35 total credits, which must include: (i) at least five credits of required common courses, (ii) at least two credits of required activities, (iii) at least 21 credits of required courses within the field, (iv) at least four credits of elective courses within the field, and (v) at least three credits of courses on academic and professional skills. Upon successful completion of the program, students who satisfy all of the following conditions will receive a Master’s Program Graduation Certificate and a Master of Healthcare Administration degree certificate from Tsinghua University: (i) complete all required courses with passing grades, (ii) earn a minimum of 35 credits, and (iii) successfully defend their master’s thesis.

V. Application Requirements

1. Applicants must uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, be committed to serving socialist modernization, have strong moral character, and adhere strictly to all laws and regulations.

2. All applicants must meet the requirements outlined in Tsinghua University 2026 Master’s Program Admissions Policy.

3. Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree must have at least three years of work experience. Those holding a master’s or doctoral degree must have at least two years of work experience. For more detailed requirements, see Tsinghua University 2026 Master’s Program Admissions Policy. Applicants presenting academic qualifications or degrees obtained overseas must have their credentials officially certified by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) of the Ministry of Education.

4. Applicants who are currently employed and wish to enroll in contract-based training must obtain approval from their employer before applying.

Application Process

1. Examination Registration

All applicants must successfully complete two separate registration procedures. Neither procedure can be omitted.

(1) Log in to the China Master's Program Admissions Information Network (https://yz.chsi.com.cn) and fill out and submit the registration form by the specified deadline. Late registrations will not be accepted, and registration information cannot be modified after submission.

Applicants are required to carefully read and follow the guidelines set forth in the Notice on Relevant Matters Concerning the 2026 Master’s Program Admissions of Tsinghua University and the Notice of Tsinghua University on the 2026 Nationwide Master’s Program Unified Admissions Examination.

2. Registration Confirmation

(1) Applicants Taking the Preliminary Exam at Tsinghua University

If you select Tsinghua University as your preliminary examination site, you must pay the preliminary examination application fee through the China Master’s Program Admissions Information Network (https://yz.chsi.com.cn). After successful payment, wait at least 24 hours (this waiting period may be extended if it overlaps with a public holiday), and then log in to the Tsinghua University Graduate Service System (https://yzbm.tsinghua.edu.cn) to upload your electronic photo and all other required materials. You will be eligible to participate in the preliminary examination only after your application is approved by the university. For detailed requirements, please refer to the Notice of Tsinghua University on the 2026 Nationwide Master’s Program Unified Admissions Examination.

(2) If you plan to take the preliminary exam at other examination sites, you must pay the preliminary examination application fee and complete the online or on-site confirmation process in accordance with the requirements and deadlines of your chosen site.

3. Admissions Examination (Preliminary)

Applicants must log in to the China Master’s Program Admissions Information Network using the name and password they used during registration to download and print their Exam Admission Ticket within the timeframe specified by the Ministry of Education. The Exam Admission Ticket must be printed on A4 white paper, and neither side may be altered or marked. Applicants must present both their Exam Admission Ticket and valid ID card to be allowed to take the preliminary examination.

Examination Scope and Requirements: Please refer to the examination syllabus issued by the Ministry of Education, as provided in the Tsinghua University 2026 Master’s Program Catalog (for Nationwide Master’s Program Unified Admissions Examination).

4. Second-Round Examination

Tsinghua University will organize the second-round examination for all candidates under consideration for admission. Candidates who fail the second-round examination will be disqualified from admission. The specific time, location, scope, and format of the second-round examination will be determined by the university. Detailed arrangements and procedures will be announced through official channels prior to the examination date.

5. Admission Decisions

The final admission process is tentatively scheduled for March–May 2026, and specific dates will be announced in due course. Admission decisions will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of candidates, including (i) preliminary examination scores, (ii) second-round examination scores, (iii) the authenticity of all application materials, (iv) political and ideological performance, and (v) physical health status.

6. Payment and Registration

Admission notices will be mailed in June 2026. Admitted students must complete tuition payment by the specified deadline and report to the university and complete registration in early September with their admission notice and other required materials.
