On November 3, a faculty delegation led by Wu Jian, Dean of the School of Healthcare Management at Tsinghua University, visited Duke Kunshan University (DKU) as part of the Yangtze River Delta Study Tour program. This study trip focused on how globally oriented innovation and interdisciplinary integration are explored and practiced within higher education. Li Xiaoshu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of DKU, together with professors and representatives from the Global Health Research Center , received the delegation and participated in a panel discussion.
During the visit, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the philosophy of international education and the development of interdisciplinary fields. Jiang Nan, a professor at the School of Healthcare Management, outlined the school’s strategic plans for fostering systematic development and interdisciplinary collaboration. Wu Jian, Dean of the School of Healthcare Management, emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with internationally oriented institutions such as DKU, in order to jointly address the complex challenges of global health and healthcare governance.
DKU, in turn, shared its innovative approaches to building an international education platform, advancing interdisciplinary research, and integrating academic resources from both the East and the West. The two sides explored potential pathways for integrating diverse perspectives within the health sciences, including those from medicine, management, policy, and technology. They reached a consensus that breaking down disciplinary silos and fostering interdisciplinary integration are essential to cultivating high-caliber talent and driving research and innovation.
This visit has built a vital bridge between the two sides, laying a strong foundation for future exchanges and collaboration.
